Life is at it’s best when YOU are at your best!

“Spring has sprung and new life has begun…

As the warmth of the sun awakens the earth…the bulbs begin to appear…the lifeless grass begins to turn green…the dead branches of the trees are pruned to produce vibrant growth and beauty begins to appear.

When the season is right and the climate is ideal…new life naturally begins to appear.

In our yard, we have growing a Mountain Ash Tree that was given to us several years ago.  Every year, it is a major task to figure out which branches need to be pruned to make the tree more uniform.  Gardeners know that every tree is as good as it’s leading branch.  The leader should be straight so other branches can grow which gives the tree it’s beautiful shape.

We have one big problem…our tree has three leaders that compete every year for growth as they head in all different directions. The result is a tree that has the appearance of a person who desperately needs haircut.  We could yank the tree and get a new one…easy fix…yet, somehow we choose every year to prune the tree to see what happens.  This year is no different…the tree has had it’s vigorous pruning and now we wait with optimism for the growth to appear and let the true nature of our Mountain Ash reveal itself.

Pruning is essential when it comes to growth.  Just as the trees are shaped and pruned in the Spring season to produce vibrant growth, this reminds me that Spring can be that time in our lives, to evaluate what we really want and what changes need to happen.  And yes, sometimes we too do need a vigorous prune job.

As you ask yourself, “What do you really want?”… be real with yourself.  You really do want the best and nothing less.  This is what you have going for you!  Substantial growth is what every person truly desires, in every aspect of their life.  Yet…there are things that get in the way.

The reality is before you can make your dreams blossom and grow, you have to create fertile soil so that growth can happen.  As you evaluate where you focus your thoughts, ask yourself this question…is the soil highly fertile to allow my dreams to grow?

Explore this further and asked yourself these questions:

Where is my focus…on the possibilities or the impossibilities?  What are the old habit patterns that are getting in my way of moving my life forward?  Where do I hold myself back from making my dreams a reality?

Bottom line…To get things growing, you absolutely have to take action!

Are you a dreamer or a doer?

As a dreamer…you never get around to putting your dream into action. Making your dream your reality, is not a priority.  It is an idea…a concept…and nothing more.  The dream stays dormant in the ground and you never get to experience the reality of seeing it flourish.  It is watered by a fears, poisoned by doubt and here nothing can ever grow.  Scarey yet true, is the saying “what you focus on is what you become”.  “Never” “never” land is not promising.

The doer however has a different game plan…they make a commitment to themselves, set goals and take action.  They make what they really want a priority, and they go for it and are not afraid of hard work.  They know that no one will do it for them and they take full responsibility for their success.   A doer doesn’t allow “buts” and excuses to hold them back… “I don’t have time”… “This is too much work”… “I’m not smart enough”… “I don’t have enough money”…….They “kick the ‘buts’ in the “butt” and go for it whether they feel like it or not because they know that having their dream is more important than any of obstacles they may face!  With every problem or challenge, there is a solution!

When you believe in your dream and honor your commitment to make it a reality one-step-at-a-time, you are choosing to take yourself seriously, and this is what will motivate you to follow through and take your plan to completion.  Action is what makes your dream a reality!

How do you jump start the growth in your life?  Take the time to SPRING CLEAN…and prune away what holds you back from accomplishing what you want to accomplish…

and…take the “buts” that hold you back and remind yourself, that you do have the courage to take the small steps that are needed to attain your goal.

Before you know it, your “buts” will fade away and you will discover your path to achieving the success you desire.

  1. Love your article that says spring into action by avoiding living behind excuses and using the buts in your language. I say “use the YES and instead”…this language changes lives.
